All the Light We Cannot See

All the Light We Cannot See is a gorgeous book set during World War II about a blind French girl named Marie-Laure and a German orphan named Werner Pfenning who is enlisted for his skill in tracking the resistance. As their paths collide, Doerr demonstrates the ways that, against all odds, people try to be good to one another. Its hauntingly beautiful prose and the way it richly describes the scenes with all five senses makes it a must-read. Due to some strong language and darker themes, we recommend it to mature 7th graders and beyond.
