Support Our Efforts to Fight the Achievement Gap and Learning Loss!

About Us

We started off as a group of high school students at Sage Hill School in Newport Coast, California. Our mission is to spread our passion for reading throughout Orange County and beyond, now mainly at UC Berkeley. We are passionate about inspiring a love for reading in kids that we hope will stay with them forever.

What is Project Ready, Set, Read?

We believe that students from all different backgrounds deserve equal, high-quality educations. However, this is sometimes not possible due to the different situations that children and their families find themselves in. That's where we come in.

We have partnered with Thomas House Family Shelter to provide the children living with them the opportunity to have fun while enriching their learning. Each month, we visit the students at Thomas House Family Shelter. During each meeting, we have a whole host of different activities prepared for the young students, including storytime, reading and writing exercises, crafts, games, and so much more! Through this program, we hope to encourage a deep love of reading and the development of invaluable writing skills in these students. Every interaction with learning matters for young students, and we hope that our efforts will help underprivileged students develop a lifelong desire to learn while making reading and writing fun for them!
